A Longford Councillor says a decision on the location for the county's new civic centre is welcome news.
It was announced last evening that the development will be built on lands adjacent to the current council headquarters on Great Water Street.
The council had considered Connolly Barracks as a site but have now chosen to stay at their current location.
Councillor Gerry Warnock believes this will allow for further regeneration of the area and fit well with future plans for Camlin Quarter.
Councillor Warnock hopes the council will be in a position to appoint contractors for the project within the next 18 months:
