The vote counting for LEAs across Co. Roscommon and Co. Longford is finally over.
After a count that took over more than two days, 18 seats have been filled in each constituency.
Fianna Fáil’s Seán Moylan, Fine Gael councillor Liam Callaghan and Independent councillor Tom Crosby were the final three candidates to be elected to Roscommon County Council.
Their election brought an end to Roscommon local elections for 2024 with all 18 seats in the three local electoral areas of Roscommon, Athlone, and Boyle area filled.

Meanwhile, in Co. Longford, its initially slow start soon began showing significant progress, with a total of 28 counts taking place across the local electoral areas of Ballymahon, Longford and Granard.
The elimination of current Cathaoirleach of Longford County Council, Fine Gael candidate Colm Murray, brought the Ballymahon LEA count to a close, and in turn, the overall vote count for the county.
Independent Candidate, Mark Casey, Fianna Fáil's Pat O'Toole and Sean Mimnagh, and Martin Skelly of Fine Gael were the last four to be elected to Longford County Council.
