Longford County Council has approved the installation of a telecommunications mast outside of Edgeworthstown.
The application had been submitted by Vantage Towers LTD to construct the 24 metre high lattice structure at Lisanagh, near the town.
Plans included the structure itself along with antennae, dishes and associated equipment, all enclosed by security fencing.
The permission was the subject of a number of submissions objecting to the mast, including a petition signed by close to 40 residents.
Other objections referenced concerns over the visual obtrusiveness of the development, while another questioned the need for the infrastructure due to the local role out of fibre broadband.
Longford County Planners approved the application with 11 conditions attached, including a provision that the land be reinstated on removal of the structure.
