The man in his 30s appeared before Longford District Court yesterday charged under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Two men and a teenager charged with recent local burglaries

The former Longford councillor and mayor was jailed yesterday for three years and three months for laundering over €2.6 million.

Frank Kilbride of Aughakilmore, Ballinalee in Longford was charged with and plead guilty to three charges under money laundering legislation in January.

The 52-year-old made a false statement to Gardaí that his cattle were missing when they were actually in his neighbour's shed.

He is also charged with threats to kill, assault and the possession of knives.

Local Gardaí investigating the alleged assault in the Ashdale area of Athlone town arrested a man in his 20s this week.

Protesting members won't attend court, communicate with solicitors or do paperwork.
