The judicial system is not helping to reduce the number of dog attacks on humans and other animals.
That's according to Longford warden Hilary Robinson who was reacting to a report today that shows dozens of attacks by dogs are officially reported to local councils every year.
The report also showed that the attacks have happened with many dogs that are not included on the restricted breeders list, including collies and Jack Russells.
The Longford dog warden says while there is sufficient legislation there to deal with dog attacks the attitude of the courts is usually lenient.
