Covid-19 levels are fluctuating across the Shannonside region as the country moves further into the winter months.
New data from the Health Protection and Surveillance Centre has shown while national levels of the virus are down, certain counties are seeing marked increases.
Hospitalisations with or due to Covid-19 have drastically fallen between this week and the same time last month. As of today, 22 patients tested positive in hospitals or were admitted with Coronavirus, compared to 84 on the 23rd of October. While the national incidence rate is also down across the country, from 42 to 31, many counties are seeing localised increases. A new report from the HSPC shows that Roscommon has seen the largest increase in Covid levels over the last month, with the county incidence increasing from 23 to 40, with 26 new cases recorded this week. Leitrim has reported the next highest rise with a county wide incidence rate of 37 compared to 34 last month. 22 new cases were reported to the HSE last week compared to the same period in October.
Longford meanwhile has seen a drop in infection levels, with just 10 cases giving the county an incidence rate of 24 compared to 31 in October.
Nationally there were 1,484 new cases recorded across the country between the 13th and the 19th of November
