The Covid-19 incidence rate in local electoral areas across the Shannonside region continues to drop in the majority of districts.

Longford LEAs have recorded the only significant jump in positive Covid-19 cases in the last two weeks, with the infection rate the highest in the region.

The south Longford area taking in Ballymahon and surrounds shows the biggest increase locally with 48 cases reported in the last fortnight from January 26th to the 8th of February, up from 36 last week.

Ballymahon LEA is now the only region locally that has a higher average rate of infection than the national average.

Cases in the north Longford area taking in Granard and surrounds show a reduction of 12 new cases on the previous period with 31 recorded in the last two weeks.

The mid Longford area also shows the number of new cases down from 61 last time compared to 45 in the latest figures.

The Athlone electoral area in south Roscommon has the lowest incidence rate in the Shannonside counties recorded at 85 representing 17 new cases since the 26th of January.

New case numbers have also continued to drop in north Roscommon where the Boyle LEA recorded 27 in the last two weeks.

40 new cases were reported for the mid Roscommon area, compared to 59 the previous week.

The new cases in the Ballinamore area in Leitrim are 13 down from 15, and in Carrick-on-Shannon 14 new cases have bene recorded in the last two weeks down from 18 in the last figures.

Finally the Manorhamilton LEA has recorded 22 new cases of the virus over the last fortnight, leading to it having the highest incident rate in the county.
