An Outbreak of Covid-19 at Roscommon University Hospital has been contained according to management.
Visiting restrictions were put in place at the facility yesterday following the outbreak on one ward.
The positive cases are among patients only, with no staff testing positive for the virus at this time.
An intense programme of testing and contact tracing has been taking place over the past 36 hours, with the hospital's outbreak control committee meeting regularly to monitor the situation.
While visiting restrictions are in place, access to patients is available to family members in end of life circumstances.
General Manager of Roscommon University Hospital Mary Garvey says visiting restrictions are hard on families, but patient safety comes first.
