Gardai and emergency services attended the scene and inquiries are ongoing. 

Local diversions are in place as Gardaí conduct a Forensic Collision investigation.

The crash took place after 8 o’clock this morning and motorists are urged to expect delays if using the route.

The road is expected to reopen later this morning

Tom Mulhern, from nearby Ardcarne, was involved in a crash between a car and a Jeep on the N4 on Monday afternoon.

Emergency services attended the scene of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian on the N60 at Carrowntober near Balla shortly before 11pm.

The man passed away in the aftermath of the crash at Sligo University Hospital.

It's believed at least one person has been taken to Sligo University Hospital.
