A roadshow aimed at gathering the views of people around the country on various issues is visiting the region today.
The roadshow is a government-led national brainstorm aiming to involve the public in a conversation on the role research can and should play in addressing opportunities, challenges and hopes for the future.
Seamus Carey who's public engagement consultant with the campaign says he hopes it will ensure that the direction of research in Ireland is informed by the people it serves.
The roadshow is in the town centre carpark in Longford from 2 this afternoon and in Mullingar this evening.
Seamus Carey says people have been talking about a wide range of concerns during the project so far.
