Granard Credit Union is to provide an ATM for the north Longford town as the area prepares for the closure of its last remaining bank branch.
Bank of Ireland will close its branch on October 8th, and will which will also see the removal of the town's only 24 hour accessible ATM.
A local supermarket does provide a cash machine facility up to its closing time, but concerns had been expressed that the town would be left without out-of-hours access to cash unless an alternative could be found.
It has now been confirmed that the town's Credit Union will install an ATM at its branch which it is hoped will be ready for public access early next month.
