Crime levels in Longford are continuing to return to pre-pandemic levels according to new Garda figures.
The data was presented to a recent meeting of the Longford Community Safety Partnership.
The Longford Community Safety Partnership was set up in place of the former Joint Policing Committees and is one of three pilot schemes underway nationwide.
The LCSP aims to combat anti-social behaviour and criminality, as well as promote wellness by creating a tailored local community safety plan with input from the local community and public services.
Figures presented at the Q3 meeting of the committee show crime levels and detection levels on the increase in the Longford/Granard area.
The first quarter of this year had shown the highest numbers of incidents of assault, harassments and threats to kill in four years.
While in the last three months, Garda figures show over 70 such cases locally.
When it comes to fraud and deception related offences, local levels have surpassed figures from before the pandemic.
Local Gardaí are, in part, attributing this to a rise in online shopping, banking and gambling.
While the increase in the reporting of these incidents can been seen due to the requirement of financial institutions for the victim to report the issue to Gardaí before a reimbursement is issued.
