Irish Water is coming under fire following the refusal of planning permission for a new primary healthcare centre in Edgeworthstown this week.
County planners cited capacity concerns over the Longford village's waste water treatment system in its refusal of the primary care centre and 20 new houses.
Ferghal Sheridan had submitted the application for the development at Chapel Lane.
Chairperson of Edgeworthtown District Development, Frank Greene says the village is being locked out of future development due to the failure of Irish Water and local government.
He's calling on the utility provider to work with the local authority to provide a temporary work around so that developments can continue while longterm waste water upgrades are developed:
