Cllr Tom Crosby was speaking at a public meeting in the village on Monday night, where over 100 people expressed anger at the ongoing trial of one-way system on the bridge.

A Roscommon councillor claims significant funding was allocated for a new bridge in Rooskey over 16 years ago but the project never went ahead.

The two-week trial, undertaken by the National Transport Authority, ends this Sunday, with residents, business owners and public representatives calling for a new pedestrian bridge to be installed.

Cllr Crosby claims €1.4 million was allocated for the construction of a new bridge in 2009 but the money was taken off the table prior to local elections that year.
