The level of cruiser traffic on the River Shannon in Co Leitrim has almost halved this year.
That's according to the chairman of Carrick-on-Shannon Municipal District, Paddy Farrell, who is calling on the government to take action.
He wants his Fianna Fáil colleague, Minister Darragh O'Brien, to stop Waterways Ireland from introducing new bylaws, which include charges and regulations.

Councillor Farrell fears these will lead to a further decline in river cruiser traffic.
