The Cruthú Arts Festival opens tonight in Longford town after an absence last year due to Covid.
The festival which is now in its eighth year celebrates artistic talent in the community and works to engage the wider community with the various mediums.
This year's festival includes the showing of 5 short films from local writers and directors at the Omniplex cinema in the town on Wednesday night, as well as a night of music at St Mel's Cathedral on Thursday.
Festival Chairperson Gene Rhatigan says this year's event is a mix of acts they intended to have last year, as well as new ones.
He's saying they're looking forward to people being able to come out and join in the events in a safe manner.
