Up to half of people surveyed in the Shannonside Northern Sound region plan to holiday domestically over the next 3 months according to new CSO figures.
New data from the Intention to Travel survey shows between 7 and 10 per cent of people in the region are planning to head outside the country over the next three months for a break.
The figures for those with intentions to travel internationally grow to 20 per cent in the Shannonside Region and to 25 per cent in the border region between now and the end of 2021.
Nationally, seven in ten Irish residents intend to take an overnight trip within Ireland before November according to the figures while 50 percent of those surveyed say they would travel abroad.
