The Leitrim town had a 61.2 fertility rate per 1,000 women aged between 15 and 49 that year.

1,553 births were recorded over the 12 months, with Roscommon seeing the largest amount at 712.

Nationally almost 73,000 tractors are licensed, 654 of those as general haulage tractors, while 719 combine harvesters are registered.

The CSO report provided a breakdown of a variety of vehicle types which were under license in 2023.

The majority of those were in Roscommon at 25, followed by Leitrim at 14, and Longford with 12.

The births were recorded over the 12 months of last year in Longford, Leitrim and Roscommon with the average mother found to be 33 years old.
