Customs officers seized illegal fuel from a filling station in County Roscommon on Saturday last. Revenue has confirmed that as part of an intelligence-led operation, its customs service, supported by the State laboratory, detected suspected laundered fuel at the service station. Both the Roscommon premises and another station in County Meath were searched under warrant and thirty-eight thousand litres of fuel was removed for further examination.
Revenue says the seizures are part of its ongoing operations targeting fuel laundering and shadow economy activity. Investigations are ongoing and members of the public with any information are asked to report it to Revenue in confidence on 1800 295 295.
