A Defence analyst believes Custume Barracks in Athlone is the obvious and only real choice for a new Army Headquarters.
Declan Powers comments come in the wake of the publication today of a new report on the future of the Defence Forces.
The report was drawn up by a special commission which was established over a year ago to look at its future staffing, capability, and structural requirements.

The report talks about a need to rebalance current army structures, and recommends a new centrally located Army Headquarters.
The former Defence Forces member says Custume Barracks is the obvious choice to be a new headquarter.
