Roscommon Sport Partnership is hosting a variety of adult cycle safety workshops across the county to highlight this year's Bike Week.
Coordinator of the Sports Partnership Noel Feeley says the event will teach cyclists the skills they need to cycle confidently on the road for fitness, leisure, or transport.
The workshops will be held in Lisnamult, Boyle and Moore next week from 7pm to 9pm on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.
Topics to be discussed at the workshops include bike handling, the correct use of helmets, and how to navigate in a variety of road environments.
Noel Feeley says cyclists need to know how to stay safe on the road with the increase in traffic:
'There's always the great debate , you know, about the cyclist on the road.
Unfortunately in a lot of cases, people go and take a bike out of the shed after a long absence and head off up the road.
With more people on the road, more vehicles on the road, it's really important that people know what they're doing when they do take the bike out on the road.'
