The deadline for applications for the Local Improvement Scheme has been extended by Roscommon County council for the region.
The decision follows calls from local Independent Councillor Anthony Waldron, who argued that the public needed more time to be made aware of the scheme.
The LIS helps councils to carry out improvement works on private and non-publicly maintained roads, with locals paying between 10 and 15 percent of the total cost of the project.
The new deadline for applications to Roscommon County Council is now Friday the 5th of February.
