It will be November at least before a decision on a new route for the Ballymurray Knockcroghery bypass will be known.
The Roads Design Office in Roscommon has confirmed to Shannonside FM news that additional survey information in relation to the route options is required, which has delayed the process of selecting a new route one of the six options put forward.
Officials are hoping that once this is complete they will be closer to a decision, which may be in early November.
While officials are acknowleging the patience of landowners that are awaiting an announcement, local Councillor Laurence Fallon says people are growing increasingly frustrated, especially those who have planning applications held up.
