A decision on planning permission for a significant new student housing development in Athlone is due in the coming days. PF & 4Ds Ltd are seeking the demolition of the Genesis Nightclub on the Dublin Road, Bunnavally and the partial demolition of the adjoining public house. Plans call for the construction of a new student housing scheme consisting of 26 apartments across five 2 to 3-storey apartment blocks.
The development will feature 91 student units within the apartments, with the construction of internal and external alterations to the existing public house also sought. The application seeks car parking spaces, bicycle storage, landscaping and new connections to water services. Following the provision of further information from the applicant, county planners are due to make a final decision within the next week.
