There was a significant decrease in the number of people on unemployment assistance between August and September of this year in the Shannonside region.
The latest report from the CSO shows that there are currently 5 thousand 793 people on the live register, an increase of 700 on the same time last year.
However, this number is a substantial reduction on last month's figure of 6 thousand 288. Longford and Leitrim have over 2 thousand people claiming government assistance with Roscommon having just over 1 thousand 600. All counties except Tipperary experienced an increase in the number of people on the live register in the 12 months to September 2022.
