Day 17 of the trial of a man accused of murdering a detective garda in Roscommon 2 years ago is due to get underway later this morning.
Stephen Silver is charged with the capital murder of Detective Garda Colm Horkan in Castlerea on June 17th 2020.
He's pleaded not guilty to murder but guilty of manslaughter by reason of diminished responsibility.
Evidence from the defence will resume this morning at the Central Criminal Court in Dublin, with Dr Brenda Wright, a forensic psychiatrist, continuing her testimony.
Last week saw the prosecution close their case in relation to the trial, with the jury of 7 men and 5 women still to hear evidence from defence witnesses.
