A local TD says a further delay to the regional rehabilitation unit at Roscommon Hospital is completely unacceptable.
Denis Naughten says the project has been put on hold since 2020 and he now understands it won't be considered again until later in 2023.
The plan includes the construction of a new 25 bed unit as an outreach centre for the National Rehabilitation Hospital which would help those recovering from serious injury and stroke.
The Independent deputy says government committed to the unit in 2011 following the closure of the A&E at the facility however he claims the HSE continues to find reasons to delay the planning for the project.
