Services for young people with special needs in Longford and surrounding counties have been given a significant boost this week.
A total of 7 new Special Needs Assistants have been approved for the new St Christopher's School which is due to open in September of this year.
The school will be catering for a total of 36 pupils and two new classes have been added for children with autism, and young children with severe to profound needs.
Local TD Joe Flaherty says it was imperative that the children in these classes would get the necessary support to allow them attend the school.
