The Department of Integration has confirmed it anticipates accommodating international protection applicants in apartments in Castlerea in the near future. In an email to Sinn Fein TD Claire Kerrane, it says talks are at an advanced stage with the provider of the property. It follows speculation 52 asylum-seekers or refugees would be accommodated in 13 apartments in the town.
A protest, organised by a group called Castlerea Says No, is taking place outside the apartments tonight at 8 o'clock. A similar protest was held last night. Deputy Claire Kerrane says it looks as though the property will house international protection applicants:
