County Roscommon has been highlighted as an area of concern when it comes to the spread of the Delta variant of Covid-19 according to a senior health official.
Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn mentioned the county yesterday in a video posted to Twitter explaining the concerns NPHET have about the more transmissible strain.
Roscommon currently has the 8th highest level of virus transmission in the country with a 14 day incidence rate of 179, in comparison to the national average of 145.
Longford and Leitrim both have transmission rates well below the national average with Longford currently recording the second lowest 14 day incidence rate in the country.
While 62 Covid patients are in hospital this morning - a drop of 2 from yesterday with 16 of these in intensive care.
