A sustainable development plan for Lough Key Forest and Activity Park has been announced. The tourist attraction in Boyle, Co. Roscommon received close to €1.2m awarded by Fáilte Ireland as part of the EU Just Transition Fund. Coillte in conjunction with Roscommon County Council have made the announcement for the new development plan following yesterday's news. Included in the plan is upgrades to the visitor centre, local trails, and water activities. Coillte say it is part of a vision to enhance Lough Key Forest and Activity Park as a world class visitor destination.
Among the range of enhancements being considered are an activity centre for children and adults, a meadow events area, expanded dining and on-site retail facilities and improved parking at the site. Mark Carlin who is the Managing Director at Coillte Forest also confirmed that they will seek the views of local stakeholders and communities, and there will be a number of opportunities to give feedback before they finalise the plans for the park.
