The discovery of a man's body in Carrick-on-Shannon is not being investigated as a suspicious death.
A post mortem examination is due to take place this evening at Sligo University hospital after the body of the man in his 20s was discovered in the Costello Memorial Chapel just after 8am this morning.
It's believed the man's body may have been in the chapel for at least 24 hours and investigations are underway to confirm his identity. Entry was forced at the chapel this morning by emergency services after Gardai and local workmen raised concerns.
Shannonside FM understands that the matter is initially being treated as a personal tragedy but Gardai are awaiting preliminary results from the post mortem to determine the course of their inquiries.
