Discussions are still ongoing over the confirmation of Longford Slashers GAA club as the location for Longford's Covid-19 vaccination centre.
Longford's centre is one of only two nationwide that has not yet had its location fully confirmed, with the Offaly centre also still under question.
Concerns have been raised over the choice of location, with members of the public highlighting issues over infrastructure, accessibility and it's location on the outskirts of the town.
Longford County Council is currently working with the HSE Estates team to examine the facility in order to see what works need to be completed in order to safely open the centre to all members of the public.
According to a Longford County Councillor and Chair of the Midlands Regional Health Forum, work is simultaneously underway on selecting back up locations for a Longford based centre that fits all the requirements of the HSE.
Councillor Pauric Brady says all stakeholders are working hard to make sure the centre is opened as soon as possible, whether it be Slasher's GAA club or another location.
According to Councillor Brady, it's hoped a final decision will be made at the start of next week.
