A Longford GP says telephone consultations are adding to many doctors workload at the end of the usual working day.
Dr Padraig Mc Garry was reacting to comments from the Chairman of the GP committee on the Irish Medical Organisation who said staff shortages are leading to doctors being 'at breaking point'.
Dr McGarry who's a former Chairman of the same committee says he can see some light at the end of the tunnel because more people will be attracted back o work as GP's as the FEMPI cuts of 2015 are reversed.
He says though that it will take time to build the GP sector up to meet demand again and in the meantime a lot of doctors are still under serious pressure.
The Longford GP says he's returned to an almost full level of in-person consultations, but the day doesn't end there anymore.
