A new documentary featuring a Ballinasloe traveller woman has premiered in Dublin this week.
Mincéir which features Nora Corcoran showcases Traveller heritage and culture in Ireland and was officially launched at the Dublin International Film Festival on Friday.
The galway traveller movement worker says this documentary needs to be shared not just with the travelling community but the wider population to combat misconceptions relating to the culture.
Nora also feels it's important the younger generation, and future generations of Travellers, know more about their origins and traditions.
"Part of my contribution was we went back and reimagined life on the side of the road which was lovely for me because I come from a very nomadic family, my father was a tinsmith. We're archiving our culture for future generations because we don't want to lose it, it's being diluted enough. We see a lot of our young people have o sense of identity because they wouldn't gave experienced our rich culture like they should have because of a lot of laws, legislation, and policy. So that's why it's important that we do archive and we do embrace it".
