A Leitrim councillor says he's opposed to giving forest owners a full exemption on felling licences because of Storm Eowyn.
The proposal was made at a well-attended public meeting in Carrick-on-Shannon on Tuesday night.
10 per cent of all forestry in Leitrim was knocked down in the storm - but landowners still need felling licences to clear the timber.
Wales has waived the need for these licences for the moment, but Independent councillor James Gilmartin doesn't think Ireland should follow suit.
