Gardai in Roscommon fined a motorist for non-essential travel after being stopped at a regular checkpoint over the weekend.
The driver is alleged to have told Gardaí that they were just 'out for a spin' when stopped by officers.
The novice driver was stopped with no N plate and also tested positive for cannabis
Court proceedings are also due to follow.
