The number of primary school students taught through the Irish Language in the Shannonside Region has fallen in the last five years.
Figures released by the Central Statistics Office show that close to 500 students were educated through Irish in the last academic year.
That compares to 533 children in Longford, Leitrim and Roscommon Gaelscoileanna in 2018.
Leitrim saw the largest number of students taught in Irish last year, and the only increase in the number of enrollments, with 211 students educated through Irish in two Gaelscoil in the county.
A minor drop was recorded in Roscommon, with the counties only Irish Medium School seeing a difference of 6 students between 2018 and 2023, with the school teaching 153 students in the last year.
The most significant difference was seen in Longford, where student levels in irish schools fell from 176 five years ago to 134 last year.
Nationally, 249 Gaelscoileanna educated almost 44,000 students, a drop of over 2,000 when compared to 2018.
