The number of reported burglaries in County Leitrim has decreased in 2024 compared to the same time last year. The figures were revealed at this mornings Leitrim Joint Policing Committee meeting. According to figures provided by local Gardaí burglaries are down 35% compared to this time last year. However, drug driving arrests are up 34% from 11 to 32 incidents so far this year. Leitrim Gardaí confirmed last month at a checkpoint in conjunction with the RSA, they seized over €35,000 worth of drugs from a vehicle.
Assault causing harm incidents are down 18% from 11 to 9 whilst the number of thefts of properties are down 30%. Finally, public order offences are up 45% on the same time last year from 22 to 32. Meanwhile, There are currently 100 members of An Garda Síochana working in county Leitrim. There was also an update on the number of vehicle resources for Gardaí in the Leitrim district with 25 vehicles available for use.
