Sligo-Leitrim TD Martin Kenny, from Sinn Féin, says forestry is partly to blame.

They've also made an appeal for information in relation to a number of damaged polytunnels at the Loughallen Education Centre in Drumshanbo.

The centre has constantly been expanding over the years.

The centre initially opened with the first ever heated outdoor swimming pool in Connaught, as well as a playground and tennis court.

50,000 people visited the Co Leitrim facility in 2023, according to Failte Ireland. Lough Key Forest and Activity Park in Boyle was second, with nearly 46,000 visitors.
