The new units should be finished by this summer according to the local Councillor.

Founder of the Shed Distillery in Drumshanbo and new Drinks Ireland Chairperson, Pat Rigney, says the drinks industry is too often misrepresented and maligned in Ireland.

Councillor Enda McGloin believes the netting needs to be installed to prevent birds from landing on the exposed water and potentially spreading disease.

The issue was raised at a meeting of the municipal district this week.

The comments come as the Ukrainian ambassador to Ireland announced a visit to Drumshanbo in December earlier today.

The event is free but the night will accept donations on the night for St Vincent de Paul.
