A 47-year Longford man, who was described as being "very drunk" when he told a Longford Garda she should be shot 'like her friend in Castlerea' has been fined €350.
Judge John Brennan heard that the man, who had 26 previous convictions before the incident in June, has not had a drink since.
At a previous sitting of Longford District Court, the man apologised to the garda for making the comments about the late Detective Garda Colm Horkan, who was killed in Castlerea on June 17th.
The court also heard the man made the comments after a disturbance outside the doors of the court, and was arrested after refusing to leave the area.
He was charged with three public order offences, and Judge Brennan fined him €350, as well as imposing the Probation Act for one of the offences, and striking out the other.
