A newly elected Longford Senator has called for a massive increase in fines for those caught dumping illegally.
Speaking in the Seanad this week, Senator Paraic Brady says that every county in the country is facing a dumping epidemic.
The Fine Gael Senator told the chamber that local authorities are struggling to fund the clean up of illegal dumping incidents.

He believes that the fine for repeat offenders must drastically increase to act as a deterrent towards future fly tipping.
Senator Brady says that nothing will change until the punishments will increase.
