Towns across the country are set to get funding to improve things like cycleways and footpaths.
22 councils are getting 33 million euro for active travel projects and 14 million euro's going to 26 local authorities for climate change adaptation steps.
In Leitrim 1.4 million euro has been allocated for climate change projects, including 1.2 million for rehabilitation works to roads and a bridge in the Shass mountain area which was badly affected by a landslide earlier this year.
Just over two-hundred-thousand euro ( €207,057) has been given to climate change projects in Longford and €470,000 for six climate change projects in Roscommon.
In relation to active travel plans, twelve Leitrim projects will share just over one million euro and seven Roscommon projects will share one-point-one-million euro.
In Longford eight projects are to receive a total of €761,000.
