Almost €1.3 million has been allocated for local greenway projects.
Minister Eamon Ryan announced over €4 million for 26 projects across the country today.
Seven local projects are sharing in the funding.
The Sligo Leitrim Northern Counties Railway (SLNCR) Greenway, which will pass from Sligo to Blacklion in Cavan, is receiving the most at €500,000.
That will go towards bringing the 75km project through statutory process.
The Sligo Greenway, from Cooloney in Sligo to Bellaghy in Cavan, is receiving €300,000 for a preliminary design and environmental evaluation.
€175,000 is going towards choosing route option for the Cavan Railway Greenway, running from the Ulster Canal Greenway at Castle Saunderson.
The Ulster Canal Greenway is receiving €100,000 for design works on the section from Clones to Smithborough in Monaghan.
Another €100,000 will be spent on studies and planning for the Lough Ree Greenway from Tarmonbarry to Athlone.
€60,000 will be spent on pre-planning processes on the Mid-Shannon Greenway which will run for 65km in Longford.]
