Close to €3 million has been announced for the Shannonside region in funding for Housing Adaptation Grants for Older and Disabled People. The announcement was made by the Minister for Housing Darragh O'Brien this morning with 80% exchequer funding and 20% coming from the local authority. The grant assists with the necessary adaptations, repairs or improvement works in order to make accommodation more suitable to the needs of older and disabled people.
Roscommon received the highest allocation with over €1.6 million in funding announced today. Close to €1.3 million is from the exchequer with over €320,000 coming from the local authority. Almost €1.3 million has been announced for Co. Longford today with a breakdown of over €1m coming from the exchequer and close to €260,000 from the local authority. Finally, Co. Leitrim has received over €1m with close to €850,000 coming from exchequer funding and over €210,000 of funding from Leitrim County Council.
