Funding of €400,000 has been allocated for the construction of a new bridge in County Leitrim. Hartley Bridge is located around halfway between Carrick and Cootehall, and is in poor condition. Leitrim County Council was granted planning permission to demolish it and build a new bridge around 25 metres away.
The project is set to go to tender next month with construction expected to start this summer. Fianna Fáil Councillor Paddy Farrell says it's been a long wait but the funding is good news for the area:
