€50,000 has been allocated towards town teams in the Shannonside region. A total of 68 towns nationally will be supported with €10,000 in funding per town.
In County Roscommon, Ballaghadereen, Monksland and Boyle have all received funding for their respective town teams. Meanwhile, town teams in Granard in Co. Longford and Ballinamore in Co. Leitrim will both receive €10,000 each.
The Department of Rural and Community Development says the funding may be used to support the establishment and development of town teams where they are not already well established.
