€6 million euro funding for various roads' projects has been approved for the Ballymahon Municipal District area.
The plan which was approved at the recent online meeting of the MD allows for €2 million euro to be spent on the Main Street in Ballymahon which is due to have a major streetscape overhaul.
Half a million euro is also to be spent on resurfacing Main Street in Lanesboro and carrying out work on some footpaths, and that project is going to tender shortly.
The remainder of the €6 million will be spent on road repairs, including bridges and drainage issues, along a total of 40 kilometres of other routes across the county.
Funding secured under the Low Cost Safety Scheme includes the provision of a pedestrian crossing at St Mathews School in Ballymahon and work at bends and junctions at Cloncallow and Derryoghill/
