An East Galway village has turned an unused school building into a hub for Ukrainian citizens.
Over 120 people came together in Newbridge over the weekend to renovate the vacant property.
Heating and electricity have been restored and it's hoped the hub will not only provide accommodation but also a space for Ukrainians to meet socially.
Eight houses in the community have also been pledged to support refugees, with two families having arrived since Saturday.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan Show, local organiser Sean Gavin says the kindness of people is unbelievable.
